David James // Chief Executive Officer

David is the co-founder of mxData starting the company in 2004. David’s career spans over 20 years within the IT and mobile industries, with the six years prior to mxData operating a successful consultancy company working for many of the major companies within IT, telecommunications and telematics including Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Trafficmaster and with Microsoft at their headquarters in Redmond.

David’s passion for mobile technology extends back to 1998 when as a consultant at Ericsson he was involved in the development of the groundbreaking R380 one of the first ever Smart phones.

David's combination of commercial and technical knowledge within both the mobile and telematics industries have proved invaluable, with mxData being recognized as the 4th fastest growing company in the North West by Crain's Manchester Business inaugural Fast 50 awards.

David lives in Cheshire and has four children that keep him very busy, but when time permits he also enjoys travelling, snowboarding and Triathlons.

Anne Marie Alexander // Sales Director

Anne Marie is passionate about the mobile industry and has been a strong driving force behind the success of the teams she has lead over her 20 year career. Working across a wide range of industry sectors, her passion is derived from the knowledge gained and understanding from such a wide range of people and infrastructure.

At mxData Anne-Marie is a key member of the management team, providing vision and leadership whilst developing and implementing a high growth strategy for one of the fastest growing companies in the North West. mxData’s core vision "Live information for a generation on the move" enables Anne Marie to continually improve both her surroundings and the business, moving the strategy forward during this very exciting time for our industry.

Michael Cliffe // Chief Technical Officer

Over the last 18 years Michael has worked in the telecommunication, engineering, and financial industries with the likes of Nokia, Marconi, Reuters, First Data and with Pi on their Formula One systems. Michael is a highly skilled individual with deep technical knowledge. He enjoys solving challenges and developing new technology solutions.

Michael’s responsibility is to align technology vision with our business strategy. He provides direction in all technology related issues in support of research and development, product development, and core company values. Since joining mxData in 2004, Michael has been integral in our organisational success. He is the visible leader for the company within the wider technology community.

Michael’s interests lie in the practice of software architecture and design, its management and development. He studied at Staffordshire University and actively continues his professional development.

Michael is married to Katherine and they have two girls. Away from work, he enjoys quality family time with the three ladies in his life!

Matt Booth // Finance Manager

Matt has over 7 years’ experience of working with both owner managed and listed companies on a variety of assignments. These ranged from the preparation of statutory accounts, business plans and forecasts to audit and due diligence.

Prior to joining mxData Matt was employed as a Chartered Accountant for an international practice.

In his free time Matt enjoys keeping fit by exercising at the gym, playing squash and running. At weekends he relaxes by watching sport, socialising and eating out.

Will Drummond // Operations Manager

Will spent 20 years as an Avionics Technician in the Royal Navy. Following his retirement he embarked on a Windows 2000 MCSE course then worked for the Department for International Development before settling down closer to home working for AstraZeneca, prior to joining mxData.

Will is responsible for the provision of IT infrastructure services including desktop applications, Local and Wide area networks, production servers, IT security and telecommunications. He is also involved in the development and implementation of new systems and manages the IT support team.

Will is married with two children. Away from work he enjoys skiing, badminton and cycling.

Wanda Roberts // Head of Development

Wanda has over 15 years of experience in developing software within the telecoms, media and education sectors. She specialises in the management of development teams in fast-paced consumer environments and enjoys the challenges of delivering quality software and complex IT systems integration.

Prior to joining mxData, Wanda was Head of Online Applications Development at Virgin Media, where, in addition to successfully growing the online customer portals, she gained valuable experience in collaborating with blue chip strategic partners and managing large-scale organisational change and outsourcing initiatives.

Outside work, Wanda enjoys skiing, playing hockey and spending time with her family in Cheshire.

Brian McBride // Chairman

Brian joined mxData as Chairman in September 2011. He stepped down from Amazon.co.uk in January 2011 having previously held senior positions during a 25 year career in IBM, Dell Computers and T-Mobile where he was UK managing director. He has recently been appointed non-executive director of Monitise plc, a leading player in mobile payments, and is also a member of the Advisory Board of Numis PLC, London Stockbrokers and Investment Bankers.

Brian is Chairman of RemCo and Senior NED at Computacenter plc, is a Venture Partner (part-time) with Scottish Equity Partners, and is a trustee of In Kind Direct, a charity which redirects surplus products to the needy. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Celtic Football Club plc, SThree plc, and the British Retail Consortium and is a former chairman of Virgin Mobile.

Brian is 55 years old, married with two daughters and lives in Camberley, Surrey. He has an MA (Hons) in Economic History from the University of Glasgow.

Steve Cunningham // Chief Financial Officer

Steven co-founded mxData with David in 2004 and has managed the finances of mxData since its inception enabling the business to grow rapidly to profitability.

Steven has worked within Chartered Accountancy practices for the last 12 years and has developed both an eye for detail and a forward thinking approach to managing business growth within fiscal boundaries.

In addition to running the finances of mxData Steven has also spun off his own management consultancy practice and sits on two other company boards.

The balance between vision and stability has been critical in making mxData successful and the current growth will continue under Steven’s model managerial and financial controls.

Outside of his working week in London, Steve spends his weekends with his growing family and classic car in the Victorian seaside town of Clevedon.

Roger Jeynes // Non-Executive Director

Roger's early career was in the technology industry, encompassing senior technical, sales, marketing and general management roles with IBM, Pyramid Technology and EMC Corporation.

Roger was Chief Operating Officer of the technology merchant bank Interregnum plc, leading its flotation and capital raising on AIM in 2000. Roger has recently been appointed Professor of Management Practice in the Ashcroft International Business School of Anglia Ruskin University.

As well as being a Non-executive Director for mxData, he is also a director of Charborough Capital, a non-executive director of Keycom plc, and serves as an independent director of two fully-listed Venture Capital Trusts - the AIM distribution Trust plc (AMD.L) and Pennine AIM VCT 6 plc (PNEA.L).

Married with two daughters, his leisure time is dominated by an ageing rock band called The Fat Cats for which he is manager and guitarist.

David Caswell // Non-Executive Director

David is an entrepreneur, commercial strategist and general manager with over 15 years of experience in consumer facing digital media businesses.

David started his career in brand management at consumer goods company Unilever and went on to hold various marketing and commercial strategy roles at EMI Records, Walt Disney Television International and Telewest Broadband (now Virgin Media).

More recently he has served as CEO of interactive television platform provider, Electra Entertainment and CEO of online casual games company Brain Media.

In addition to his Non-executive Director role at mxData he is a Non-executive Director and Co-Founder of the UK’s number one tradesmen recommendation service Rated People.

David is married with two children and spends his leisure time running through the Oxfordshire countryside and trying to be a better musician.

David Weetman // Business Development Manager

David brings to mxData over 27 years of commercial experience in the mobile telecoms, Telematics and travel information sectors.

Working at various levels within sales, marketing, business development, commercial management and information licensing, David has previously worked for Vodafone, RAC, Siemens VDO and ITIS Trafficlink. He has experience of working with private and public sectors, and at all levels within.

At mxData David’s role is not only to develop new business opportunities, but also to identify new sources of information, and to manage these partnerships and alliances.

Nick Hill // Business Development Manager

Nick brings a wealth of sales experience gained over the last 15 years and most recently the last five within the transportation sector developing the proposition for integrated fleet, fuel and telematics solutions.

Nick is a driven hardworking enthusiastic individual who strives for results all the time. Working at various levels within sales, business development and project management, Nick has previously worked with some of the UK’s leading names in transport.

Outside of work Nick enjoys spending time with his young family and generally keeping fit. He was also fortunate enough to play in a celebrity charity football match hosted at the old Wembley Stadium.

Penny Wolfe // Personal Assistant

Penny has over 20 years secretarial and administrative experience within private and public sector organisations.

Having previously worked as a contractor, she has a wealth of experience in supporting a team of staff as well as working at director level providing assistance to ensure goals and objectives are met.

Maybe not one of the most exciting jobs within the company but a very important one none the less. Our job involves analysing actual financial performance against budget. Monitoring and interpreting short and long term cash flow and predicting future trends. Building long lasting relationships with customers and suppliers, completion of VAT returns and most importantly payroll forms!
